Description
Alum, a natural mineral found in Europe and used by the Egyptians more than 4,000 years ago, is a shaving essential for any well-groomed man. Its antiseptic properties calm razor burn and soothe irritations, and help stop bleeding in the event of a nick or cut.
The Art of Shaving Alum Block and Styptic Pen are appropriate for all skin types and can be used as an astringent for oily complexions.

Doesn't pit when wet like other styptic pencils. This is high quality alum. Also doesn't leave as much residue (white stuff). Cool product that will last you years.

For years, I have been a fan of using roll-on styptic to deal with shaving cuts - the best way to stop the bleeding. However, the roll-on styptic disappeared from area stores, and internet searches proved fruitless -- they just stopped making the stuff. I tried traditional styptic sticks, but hated them because they stung and left chalky residue. I was not going to revert to tiny pieces of toilet paper, as some men do. Out of desperation, I tried the Art of Shaving alum block. Wow. What a great product. It stops any bleeding from shaving nicks and cuts. No sting -- one wets the block before using, and it feels like you're rubbing an ice cube on your face (except without the cold). And no residue. Highly recommended.
