MenEssentials launched in October 2000 as the first online retailer of prestige skin care, hair care, shave and shower products for men only.

We set the standard for male grooming sites. Our edgy, authoritative articles, innovative product selection, and streamlined site design were widely imitated - so much so that remaining competitive became something of a problem. If you ever wondered why there are so many near-identical male grooming sites on the Internet, blame us.

As a response to the increasing clutter of mediocre online male grooming businesses, we opened our first brick-and-mortar boutique and barbershop in October 2007 and then reoriented our web site around a more local, community-based theme.

Today, our focus is on exclusive or harder-to-find product ranges and quality grooming services for Ottawa-area men. Our goals aren't so lofty as they were in the pre-recession glory days of consumer retail. But we like where we are now: a popular new name in Ottawa's Westboro Village; a trusted source for men's barbering services and grooming supplies; a familiar face on the street.
